Champions League matchweek 1 complete: big wins for Bayern and Manchester United
The first week of the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League league phase is complete. Bayern Munich won 5-0 and Manchester United 4-0, while Fenerbahçe drew with Roma and Galatasaray lost at Sporting.
The league phase of the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League began on Tuesday 8 September and the opening round was completed on 10 September across three days. Under the format, 36 teams each face eight different opponents in the league phase.
On the opening day AEK Athens beat LASK 1-0 at home and Borussia Dortmund beat Villarreal 3-1. Aston Villa came away from Club Brugge with a 3-2 win, while Manchester City took a narrow 1-0 victory in Portugal.
Over the final two days Bayern Munich beat Bodø/Glimt 5-0 at home and Manchester United won 4-0. Como beat RB Leipzig 4-1, Lens won 3-2 away at Slavia Prague, and PSV Eindhoven drew 1-1 with Shakhtar Donetsk.
Among the Turkish sides, Fenerbahçe took a point from a 1-1 draw with Roma at home, while Galatasaray lost 3-1 away at Sporting.
