Galatasaray's final dress rehearsal turns into a shoot-out: 3-3 with Rennes
Galatasaray drew 3-3 with Rennes at RAMS Park in their last pre-season match. Osimhen, Gabriel Sara and Barış Alper Yılmaz from the penalty spot scored; Lepaul hit a hat-trick for the visitors.
Galatasaray hosted the French side Rennes at RAMS Park on Sunday evening, 2 August, in their final dress rehearsal before the new season, and the six-goal match finished 3-3. Victor Osimhen put the yellow-and-reds ahead on 18 minutes; Rennes striker Esteban Lepaul changed the scoreboard three times on 27, 58 and 61 minutes, one of them from the penalty spot. Gabriel Sara levelled on 49, and Barış Alper Yılmaz settled the scoring from the spot in the 94th minute.
There were sub-plots too: Lesley Ugochukwu lined up for Galatasaray against his former club Rennes, while Przemysław Frankowski, who wore the yellow-and-red shirt in the second half of 2024-25, was on the opposite side this time.
The result closed a mixed pre-season for Galatasaray, which also included a 5-1 win over Ümraniyespor, a 2-0 defeat to Monza and this 3-3 draw with Rennes. Their first competitive match of the league season is against Çorum FK at RAMS Park on Friday evening, 14 August.
