Fenerbahçe knocked out Olympique Lyon on aggregate to reach the Champions League league phase for the first time since 2008-09. The draw in Monaco confirmed their eight opponents.
Fenerbahçe beat Olympique Lyon 2-1 away in the return leg of the UEFA Champions League play-off round. After the first leg at Kadıköy finished 1-1, the yellow-and-navies went ahead through Vedat Muriqi on 24 minutes and Archie Brown on 28; Malick Fofana scored Lyon's goal. Fenerbahçe went through 3-2 on aggregate.
The result takes Fenerbahçe into the UEFA Champions League league phase for the first time since the 2008-09 season.
Fenerbahçe entered the draw at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco on 27 August from pot 3, and their opponents are now confirmed: they host Atlético Madrid, Aston Villa, Shakhtar Donetsk and LASK Linz, and travel to Liverpool, Roma, Villarreal and Slavia Prague.
The league phase runs from September 2026 to January 2027; in the 36-team format the top eight advance directly to the last 16, sides placed 9th to 24th go into a play-off, and those below 25th are eliminated. The final is in Madrid on 5 June 2027.
