Fenerbahçe's General Assembly yesterday was not a routine occasion for reading out balance sheets. The statements made from the lectern put several issues that will shape the club's coming years back on the agenda.

The most striking part of the meeting was undoubtedly the financial picture. The figures released showed once again the scale of the obligations the club is carrying. It was clear that the board is fighting a serious financial battle to meet short-term liabilities, complete licensing processes and keep the club's day-to-day operations running.
